Common failure modes include oxidative degradation, stress cracking, chemical incompatibility, improper fusion joints, and manufacturing defects in both the pipe and associated fittings.

Plastic evidence should be stored in a cool, dark environment away from UV light and chemical exposure. Do not clean, cut, or alter failed components. Photograph the evidence in situ before removal.
